Ihram and dress for women

There is no special ihram garment for women — you wear ordinary modest clothing that covers the body, avoiding tight or revealing clothes. The face and hands are usually left uncovered during the rites. Comfortable, modest footwear and breathable fabrics make a big difference.

Rules on travelling without a mahram have changed in recent years and are more flexible than before, but they can still vary.
